PDE who? NRS what?

We are in the process of compiling an A to Z list of the initials and acronyms that we need to know as ESL teachers. Know one? Post it! Don't know one? Post it!

I'll get this thread started with some of the really important acronyms to know:

PDE = Pennsylvania Department of Education

ABLE = Bureau of Adult Basic and Literacy Education (the adult ed "arm" of PDE)

PDC = Professional Development Center (each geographical region in PA has one)

PAACE = Pennsylvania Association for Adult and Continuing Education
(an organization that focuses on advocacy and information sharing in the field -also hosts a yearly Midwinter Conference)
